Start off by preparing yourself for your home to be sold. I know this may seem a little odd, but many people are very attached to their homes, especially if they have been living in them for a number of years. Make sure that you plant the annuals a month before you are ready to sell, that way they will have time to establish themselves.
Make sure to mow the lawns and remove any rubbish lying around the yard. Making your home look inviting from the outside is called curb appeal and a house that looks untidy from the outside will often turn off many potential buyers.
